Method of Improving Passability and Increasing Controllability of a Military Vehicle by Using Automatic Variable Width Wheel Disks
Abstract
Purpose: the purpose of the article is to study the cross-country ability and controllability of military vehicles through the use of variable-width wheel disks.
Method: the main research method is a comparative method of the advantages of variable width wheel rims with conventional designs.
Findings: the paper proposes technical solutions for automatic wheel width adjustment systems, including air and hydraulic drives, which allow for adaptation to different road conditions without the need to stop the vehicle.
Theoretical implications: the main results of the research on the topic of the article are: increasing the cross-country ability and improving the controllability of a military vehicle through the use of wheel disks with variable width, the dependence of the influence of changing the width of the wheel disk on the cross-country ability of a military vehicle and the specific pressure on the ground were determined, which show the effectiveness of using the specified method to improve the operation of military vehicles in difficult road conditions.
