Journal Scope and Manuscript Submission Procedure

The journal “Social Development and Security” publishes research findings within the cluster “National Security and Defense”, encompassing interrelated areas related to ensuring the security of the state, society, and individuals.

Core Scientific Areas

The journal’s thematic scope is structured according to the following scientific areas:

  • K1 – State Security: theory and practice of ensuring state security, countering threats to sovereignty, and political, legal, and institutional mechanisms of state protection;
  • K2 – Border Security: organization of state border protection, integrated border management, border security, and international cooperation;
  • K3 – National Security by specific domains: economic, energy, social, environmental, and other components of national security;
  • K4 – Information Security Management: protection of the information space, strategic communications, and countering information threats and disinformation;
  • K5 – Military Management: management of defense forces, strategic and operational planning, and transformation of military structures;
  • K6 – Military Support, Logistics, and Sustainment: logistics, resource provision, medical, technical, and infrastructure support of the security and defense sector;
  • K7 – Weapons and Military Equipment: development, application, and evaluation of weapons and military technologies in the context of security systems;
  • K8 – Fire Safety: fire prevention systems, risk management, and emergency response;
  • K10 – Civil Security: protection of the population and territories, crisis management, and societal resilience;
  • F5 – Cybersecurity and Information Protection: cyber defense, cyber resilience, and protection of critical information infrastructure.

Scientific Orientation of Publications

The journal considers manuscripts that:

  • correspond to the defined thematic areas of the cluster;
  • present a clearly formulated research problem and a well-grounded methodology;
  • are based on modern quantitative and/or qualitative research methods;
  • ensure scientific novelty, validity, and reproducibility of results;
  • have practical relevance for the development of the security and defense sector.

The journal supports interdisciplinary research and the integration of scientific approaches that contribute to a comprehensive understanding of security issues.

Manuscript Submission Procedure

Manuscripts may be submitted in Ukrainian or English. If a manuscript is prepared in English, the language quality must meet professional academic standards. Changes to the author list after submission to the editorial office are not permitted.

  • Format the article according to the General Requirements for Manuscript Preparation.
  • Send files in .doc or .docx format to tim68@ukr.net or submit them via the Submission page.
  • Attach a separate file with author details: full names, official institutional affiliations and postal addresses, contact phone numbers, e-mail addresses, academic degrees, academic titles, and/or positions.
  • Include the ORCID of each author. ORCID can be created at orcid.org.
  • Recommended file names should correspond to the first author’s surname, for example: Ivanov_Article.docx, Ivanov_AuthorData.docx.
  • The date of manuscript receipt is the date on which it is received by the editorial office.

If a submission does not comply with these requirements, the editorial office reserves the right not to consider the manuscript and will notify the authors accordingly.
