The Basic Training of Ukrainian Citizens for National Resistance in the Framework of the Territorial Defense Forces
Abstract
Purpose. To enhance the effectiveness of the basic training of Ukrainian citizens for national resistance to a level that ensures the formation of patriotic and defense awareness, as well as the acquisition of the necessary knowledge and practical skills for the defense of the state.
Method. The research applies the analysis of legal and regulatory acts, scientific works, and the experience of the Russian-Ukrainian war of 2022, along with comparative and systemic analysis methods to assess the effectiveness of citizens’ training for national resistance within the Territorial Defense Forces.
Findings. The study identifies shortcomings in the current system of basic training, including low citizen engagement, insufficient staffing of instructors, inadequate material and technical support, and weak interagency coordination. The author proposes solutions such as developing training centers for citizens’ preparation for national resistance, improving educational programs, and strengthening cooperation between governmental authorities, the Armed Forces, and local communities.
Theoretical implications. The research deepens the scientific understanding of the concept of national resistance as an integrated system that unites military, governmental, and civil institutions in ensuring comprehensive national defense.
Practical implications. The proposed recommendations can enhance Ukraine’s defense capability through effective mobilization training and improved operation of citizen training centers.
