Premedical assistance to victims at work: problems of provision and directions for their solution
Abstract
Purpose: To identify the problems that make it impossible to provide effective medical care to victims of occupational accidents at the site of the incident and to identify areas for their solution.
Method: Analysis of statistical data on the number and dynamics of occupational injuries and regulations on the procedure for providing premedical assistance to victims, as well as other regulatory documents - to identify and update the research problem, as well as to determine the directions for its solution.
Findings: Current problems have been identified that make it impossible to provide high-quality and prompt premedical assistance to victims of an accident or occupational poisoning directly at the scene of the incident. Directions for their solution have been developed, which include the introduction of mandatory acquisition of theoretical knowledge and practical skills in providing premedical assistance in educational institutions, improving the procedure for training and testing knowledge on labor protection issues in organizations, and the need to regulate the issues of legal protection of a person providing premedical assistance to a victim.
Theoretical implications: The need to make changes to current education standards in order to ensure the mandatory acquisition of knowledge and skills in providing premedical assistance by students of all specialties, as well as changes to current legislation on the legal protection of persons providing premedical assistance to victims in emergency situations, is substantiated.
Practical implications: The results of the research will significantly minimize the risk to the life of a victim in an emergency situation by ensuring the possibility of providing him with prompt and high-quality medical care directly at the scene of the incident.
Originality: Directions have been developed, the implementation of which will allow to increase the level of theoretical knowledge and practical skills of future specialists and workers in providing premedical assistance to victims and the level of legal protection of persons providing premedical assistance, which will, in turn, allow to increase the quality and speed of providing premedical assistance directly at the scene and, accordingly, reduce the likelihood of fatal cases in the victim, by alleviating his condition and reducing the time of hospitalization.
