Keywords: defense sector, development, resilience, destabilization, economic integration, investment, economic support

Abstract

Purpose: To analyze and systematize changes in Ukraine's foreign economic orientations from 2022 to the present, including in the context of its Euro-Atlantic integration and relations with Eurasian countries, to identify related challenges, determine prospects for further development, and unlock investment potential, in particular in the defense sector.

Method: Systemic approach, institutional approach, comparative analysis, statistical analysis, historical approach, descriptive analysis method.

Findings: Have shown that in response to russia's full-scale invasion and in the context of geopolitical destabilization, Ukraine has accelerated the reorientation of its foreign economic relations to the Euro-Atlantic space. This was accompanied by deeper integration with the EU (including financial support and trade preferences) and rapid development and modernization of the military-industrial complex with the support of international partners. At the same time, relations with Eurasian countries have undergone a radical transformation, including a sharp decline in trade with russia and strengthening of partnership with Turkey. The study outlines the key trends and significant changes in the structure of Ukraine's foreign economic policy in the context of the war. Thus, the speed of Ukraine's integration into the EU reflects a strong geopolitical motivation, and significant international support plays a crucial role in ensuring the country's economic sustainability, laying the foundation for its future recovery and growth of investment potential.

Theoretical implications: The study contributes to a deeper understanding of the geo-economic transformations taking place in Ukraine in the context of the war and its aspirations for Euro-Atlantic integration, in particular, identifies key trends and features of the reorientation of Ukraine's foreign economic relations.

Practical applications: The results of the study can be used by public authorities to develop strategies for economic integration and foreign economic policy, as well as by analytical centers and experts to forecast the further development of Ukraine's economic relations with different regions of the world.

Originality/Value: The study is relevant because it analyzes the dynamic changes in Ukraine's foreign economic orientations during a critical period of its history, caused by a full-scale war and European integration aspirations.

Research limitations/Future research: The limitations of the study include the use of data available at the time of writing, which may be incomplete or preliminary, especially for 2024. Future research could deepen the analysis of the impact of the war on certain sectors of the economy, assess the effectiveness of various international support mechanisms, and predict the long-term consequences of Euro-Atlantic integration for Ukraine's foreign economic relations.

Paper type: Theoretical.
