Systematic Approach to the Classification of Mining and Geological Criteria of Coal Deposits Readiness for Industrial Development
Abstract
Purpose: To create a classification system of criteria and develop a methodology for a comprehensive assessment of coal deposits readiness based on multi-criteria analysis. The research methodology is based on a systematic approach using the Analytic Hierarchy Process, Preference Selection Index (PSI), and correlation analysis.
Method: The research methodology is based on a systematic approach using the Analytic Hierarchy Process, Preference Selection Index (PSI), and correlation analysis.
Findings: A systematization of criteria is proposed, including four main groups: geological, hydrogeological, mining-technical, and environmental. A methodology for calculating the integral indicator of deposit readiness considering the weight coefficients of criteria has been developed. The approbation of the methodology on the example of coal seams of the “Zakhidno-Donbaska” mine allowed us to determine the levels of their readiness for industrial development and to identify a strong correlation between the integral indicator and key criteria. Based on the research, a decision support system has been developed that allows automating the assessment process and visualizing the results.
Theoretical implications: The practical value of the work lies in the possibility of using the proposed approach to substantiate management decisions when planning the development of coal deposits, optimizing technological processes of extraction, and reducing risks associated with insufficient assessment of deposit readiness for industrial development.
