Keywords: Air Attack Means, Short-Range Air Defense, Automated Command and Control System, Heterogeneous Engagement Systems, Interceptor UAV, Tactical Radar, Time Delays, Integration, SHORAD

Abstract

Purpose. Analysis of factors influencing the effectiveness of guiding diverse weapons systems of tactical air defense units of the Ground Forces, and development of recommendations regarding the principles for organizing and equipping tactical air defense units of the Ground Forces.

Method. Comparative-historical, statistical, and structural-functional analysis; synthesis.

Findings. An optimized structure for a SHORAD tactical unit, consisting of various short-range systems organized into echelons based on altitude and speed, and interconnected via an autonomous MANET network under the control of an automated air defense command and control system that utilizes its own radar.

Theoretical Implications. The study provides a theoretical justification for the optimal architecture of a tactical unit and its armament system, adapted to current air threats (in particular, countering UAVs).

Papertype. Analytical.
